Mochi Roll Recipe

Who doesn't know mochi? This one food is widely known as a souvenir from the Sukabumi region. Actually the taste of mochi is very simple, namely with the sweet taste of sugar as the basic taste. Therefore, mochi is always filled with additional raw materials such as nuts, chocolate, and even ice cream. If mochi are usually small round shapes with a chewy texture, here we will make moci with a very unique roll shape!

Materials

  • 40 grams of medium protein flour
  • 140 grams of glutinous rice flour
  • 125 grams of sugar
  • 250 ml liquid coconut milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • enough peanut butter
  • toasted sesame nuts to taste
  • enough red coloring

steps

  1. Prepare a saucepan, bring the coconut milk and sugar to a boil. If you want to make red moci, add enough food coloring.

  2. Prepare a separate container, mix the flour, glutinous rice flour, and salt until evenly distributed. Slowly pour the coconut milk mixture into the flour mixture and stir until the mixture becomes smooth.

  3. Prepare a small 20 x 20 cm tin and grease it with oil or butter. Pour the batter into the pan.

  4. Heat a medium-sized steamer and then steam the moci mixture for about 20 minutes.

  5. Prepare a plastic container or heat-resistant mat then remove the dough from the pan and place the dough.

  6. Brush the top of the mochi dough with peanut butter and then roll out the dough.

  7. Sprinkle the rolled mochi with sesame, cut into pieces.

  8. Place the chopped mochi rolls on a plate and serve.

This mochi cake, which is a combination of rice flour and glutinous rice flour, is made more unique by rolling it differently from the usual round mochi. In addition to peanut butter, you can also replace the complementary ingredients of rolled mochi with other ingredients such as chocolate jam or pandan paste. In fact, you can also add chopped roasted peanuts to add to the taste.
